Rising Star Montessori

A notification app for Rising Star Montessori, built as client work through the same consulting engagement as Client Prospector.

A school needs to reach parents quickly and occasionally — a closure, a schedule change, a reminder. Email gets ignored and a phone tree does not scale, so a push notification is the right shape for the message.

It was built as a Cordova hybrid, so one JavaScript codebase served iOS, Android and Windows Phone, with push handled through Telerik's Everlive backend and per-platform settings for badges, sounds and alerts. For a small school with no budget for three native builds, hybrid was not a compromise; it was the only version of this that could exist.

Getting it onto devices meant the usual paperwork: provisioning profiles, distribution certificates, signing, and the store.

The Everlive backend it depended on has since been retired, which takes the app with it.
