Memorize The Bible

Terms of Use

The terms that apply to Memorize The Bible, a free iOS app with no account and no subscription.

These terms cover Memorize The Bible, an iOS app published by Aaron Trank. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not, delete the app — there is no account to close and nothing to cancel.

The licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. The app is licensed to you, not sold.

You may not sell, rent, sub-license, or redistribute the app, or attempt to derive its source code beyond what the law allows regardless of this restriction.

Cost

The app is free. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, and no advertising. If that ever changes, it will change in a future version you would have to choose to install.

Scripture text

Scripture in the app is the Berean Standard Bible (BSB), produced in cooperation with Bible Hub, Discovery Bible, unfoldingWord, Bible Aquifer, OpenBible.com, and the Berean Bible Translation Committee. The BSB text has been dedicated to the public domain. Free resources and databases are available at BereanBible.com.

The app's own code, design, and artwork are not public domain and remain the property of their author.

Your content

Memory plans you create are yours. Because the app stores them only on your device and never uploads them, no licence to them is granted to anyone by using the app.

When you share a plan, the plan travels inside the link you send. You are responsible for what you share and who you send it to. Opening a plan link someone sent you never changes anything until you choose to save it, and saving a plan never alters verses you have already memorized.

Your data is your responsibility

Progress is stored on your device only. There is no server-side copy and no way to recover it if it is lost. Deleting the app, resetting the device, or restoring without a backup will lose your progress permanently, and it cannot be restored for you. If your progress matters to you, keep device backups on.

No warranty

The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. It is not guaranteed to be uninterrupted or error-free.

The app is a study aid. It is not a substitute for a printed Bible, and no claim is made that any particular translation, reading, or verse numbering is authoritative for your purposes. Sixteen verses that the BSB prints empty — verses omitted from the critical text — are not included, so a few New Testament chapters have deliberate gaps in their numbering.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including lost data.

Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Any claim that the app fails to conform to a warranty may be reported to Apple, who may refund the purchase price — which, the app being free, is nothing.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

Updated terms will be posted here, with the date below changed. Continuing to use the app after that means accepting them.
