BreatheAndHold
ActiveGuided breathing and dry-land breath-hold practice for iPhone and iPad, with animated patterns, flexible sessions, and a private practice history.
BreatheAndHold helps you follow a breathing rhythm without watching a list of instructions. An animated dot follows each inhale, pause, and exhale, while the background moves from deep blue when your lungs are empty to turquoise when they are full.

Find your rhythm
Choose a built-in program such as box breathing, physiological sigh, or alternate-nostril breathing. Before starting, see an animated preview of the pattern and read about the technique and its intended benefits. Set your session by total duration or by number of breath cycles, or create a custom program with your own timing.
Balanced patterns use a line, triangle, or quadrilateral. Other patterns use a scrolling lung-volume wave, making even fractional-second phases easy to follow. The app keeps the screen awake during an active session and pauses when you leave it.
Breath-hold practice
A dedicated Hold tab guides preparation for full-lung and empty-lung holds. During a hold, a timer counts up until you choose to stop, with your previous best available for comparison. Full-lung and empty-lung records are tracked separately, with a graph of your sessions over time.
Wim Hof-style sessions support user-controlled retention followed by a recovery breath. Their history shows completed rounds and the longest retention, rather than treating the session as just minutes of paced breathing.
Build a practice, not an account
A skippable walkthrough introduces box breathing with three cycles, then shows where to find your history. Optional daily reminders let you choose a time that suits you, and the walkthrough can be replayed from Settings.
Practice history, custom programs, and favorites stay on your device. If you choose to enable iCloud sync, they also sync through your private iCloud account. There is no app account, advertising, or third-party analytics.
Practice safely
BreatheAndHold is a general-wellness guide, not a medical device or a substitute for professional advice. Breath holding and rapid breathing can cause dizziness or loss of consciousness. Practice seated or lying down in a safe, dry place. Never use it in or near water, while driving, or anywhere a loss of consciousness could cause injury. Do not hyperventilate before a breath hold, and stop if you feel unwell. Records are a history of your practice, not targets you must beat.
