Amazon Closet was a personalized wardrobe and recommendation feature built into the Amazon Shopping app. Users could catalog their clothing purchases and receive style recommendations tailored to their preferences, price range, and purchase history — bringing a curated, editorial feel to Amazon's apparel shopping experience.
I served as tech lead for Amazon Closet, shipping the feature on both iOS and Android inside the Amazon Shopping app.
How It Worked
Amazon Closet lived inside the Shopping app under Programs and Features. It scanned a user's clothing purchase history to generate personalized outfit and apparel recommendations, and users could manually add items from Amazon's catalog to refine their style profile. The result was a recommendation experience tuned specifically to fashion — distinct from Amazon's general "you might also like" engine.
