Abuse in the Browser
ActiveThe 1995 side-scrolling shooter, compiled from the Abuse 0.8 source to WebAssembly and playable here.
Abuse is a 1995 action game from Crack dot Com. This port compiles the Abuse 0.8 SDL source to WebAssembly with Emscripten, so the game runs directly in a desktop browser. It keeps the original game loop and uses Asyncify to let the browser respond while the game waits for input.
Open the game in its own tab for more space. Wait for the data to load, then click Click to start. The game opens with a gamma dialog on first launch; choose a visible grey square, then click the check mark. A keyboard and mouse are required.
Controls: Arrow keys move and jump; move the mouse to aim; click or press Space to fire. Press Esc for the game menu and use the Fullscreen button below the game to expand it. Settings and saves are stored in this browser.
The port source and build instructions are available on GitHub. The original Abuse 0.8 source archive contains the game's data and its license notices. This browser build includes code under the GPL; license details and the GPL text are served alongside it.
